élan Hand Hygiene Alert Sign

élan Electronics is proud to announce the launch of the latest in Hand Hygiene Alert Signs.

Everyone in the NHS is aware of the issues in getting the “Clean Your Hands” message across to both staff and visitors at NHS sites throughout the country.  Reducing the occurrences of MRSA, C-Diff and other infections is one of the major tasks facing the NHS at the moment.  It has become clear that an improvement in the amount of hand-washing by staff and visitors will reduce the incidence of these infections.

The élan Hand Hygiene Alert Sign has been designed in conjunction with NHS departments to produce a sign that has a very high visual impact on visitors and NHS personnel approaching or passing the sign.

The sign remains inactive until the remotely mounted movement detector senses someone approaching the sign.  Once triggered the sign then illuminates and continues to operate for a short period.  The movement detector can be strategically placed to ensure that the device is activated at the optimum time so that the passer-by’s attention is drawn, by means of the “CLEAN YOUR HANDS” message and the seven flashing chevrons, to the hand cleaning dispenser beneath the sign.

Incorporated into the advanced electronics is the unit’s ability to automatically adjust the illumination of the sign to suit the ambient levels.  The duration that the sign illuminates for after activation is also adjustable.

In operation, the sign is 100% silent creating no possible disturbance when used close to or in patient areas.

Electrical energy use is minimised by using LED technology and when inactive the sign uses a negligible amount of electrical energy.

As the unit is likely to be located in public areas, physical security of the device has also been addressed throughout the sign.

You can see the STV news coverage of the sign in operation.
